The next step is up to you. If you have contacted us to schedule a free 20 minute initial consultation, then it is important for you to call or come in to more clearly determine your need for our services. If you have decided that getting a fresh start through this process is the right choice for you and your family, then you will want to contact our office. My staff and I will take you through getting started with us, including going over fees. You can get started with us by paying a modest retainer as a down payment on our total fees. If we accept you as a client, that would mean that we would be your lawyers in the fresh start process, and you could then, refer all creditor calls to our offices, rather than you having to deal with them directly. We also would begin preparing the paperwork necessary to file the bankruptcy petition.

When all our fees are paid and all the paperwork is approved and signed off on by you and by us, then we are ready to electronically file the petition with the bankruptcy court clerk’s office in Des Moines, Cedar Rapids, or Sioux City and the case officially begins from the point of view of the court. We believe that you will find our fees quite reasonable and can pay us these fees on an installment plan over up to three months.
